Nashville, TN

Meet Eagle Johnson. His debut album was co-produced by a former NFL player, he collaborated with Bob Marley producer Lee "Scratch" Perry, the drummer of The Black Keys praised his music as "fucking great,” and he got his songwriting start serving 9-months in state custody for vandalizing a church on an Easter Sunday.

Born and raised in north Florida, Eagle's musical odyssey first started with lessons from a former drummer of the Ray Charles band. From there, Eagle began his gigging music career playing marimba in a ragtime marimba band while in high school. Afterward, he briefly attended college for digital media before dropping out to play drums for a folk-psych band called Johnathan Appleseed.

At the age of 21, Eagle experienced a severe concussion resulting in temporary amnesia and speech loss. During his recovery, he began having spiritual experiences that led to a temporary break from reality, culminating in an incident where he vandalized a church and was arrested. This act landed him in state custody for nine months. However, while in state custody, he was granted permission to play guitar, during which he penned some of his earliest songs featured on his out-of-print DIY album, "Hurricane."

Upon being declared legally sane, Eagle began playing local shows in North Florida, supporting acts like David Bazan, Shovels & Rope, and Dave Dondero. He later moved to Memphis, where he supported Valerie June and performed as Old & Young along side Zeke Johnson. After getting his Memphis soul seasoning, Eagle made his way to Nashville in 2013.

In Nashville, Eagle delved deep into his craft, working with Bomb Shelter Studios and co-producing his debut album, 'Tennessee Beach,' with former NFL player Billy Bennett. Despite minor success, he faced setbacks, including being dropped from the Paradigm agency during the pandemic in 2020. However, Eagle found inspiration in a Facebook post from Bob Marley producer Lee 'Scratch' Perry, in which a message of admiration led to a collaboration resulting in the single 'All My Friends.’

In early 2023, Eagle released his third album, "Wild Heart," accompanied by a short film documenting the creative process. The record received critical acclaim, reaching the Top 30 on over 20 college station charts and climbing to #50 on the NACC Radio 200 Chart. Notable figures such as Patrick Carney of The Black Keys and Pat Sansone of Wilco praised his work.

Most recently, Eagle released a follow-up single titled "Christmas Music," available for free download on Bandcamp.com and on all major steaming platforms. Fans can anticipate a new Eagle Johnson album in 2024, with tour dates to be announced.
